How It Works

Two Tests. Clear Answers.

Each test gives you data your scale, wearable, doctor, or trainer cannot. One visit. Your engine and your metabolism, measured directly.

VO2 Max Test
1

VO₂ Max or VO₂ Submax Test

The strongest predictor of how long, and how well, you'll live. Measured directly, not estimated by a wearable. Choose a full VO₂ Max test or a gentler VO₂ Submax option.

Mortality gap between the least-fit and most-fit individuals. JAMA 2018, 122,007-patient study
RMR Metabolic Test
2

RMR Metabolic Test

Know exactly what your body burns before you move a muscle. Build nutrition on a measured number, not a formula. A calculator-based RMR estimate can be off by about 20 to 30%.

Longevity & health optimization

The single best number for how long you'll live is your VO₂ Max.

VO₂ Max outpredicted smoking, diabetes, and hypertension in a 122,007-patient study.
Prefer an easier session? A VO₂ Submax test estimates the same number without pushing to exhaustion.

What People Are Saying

★★★★★

The VO₂ Max test was eye-opening. My smartwatch had been giving me numbers for years, but seeing the real measurement was a completely different story. The staff explained what every metric meant and how to actually improve it.

I came in for the RMR test because my nutrition felt like a coin flip. Now I know what my body actually burns at rest and I can eat with intention. Genuinely the most useful hour I've spent on my health.

★★★★★

Quick, painless, and incredibly informative. The whole appointment was easy and the results review at the end was the best part. They took the time to answer every question I had without rushing me.

I did the VO₂ Max and RMR in one visit and it was worth every minute. Seeing my fitness and metabolism together painted a full picture I'd never had before. The walk-through of my numbers was clear and encouraging.

★★★★★

I was nervous about pushing to a max effort, so they set me up with a submax option instead. It was comfortable and I still walked away with a real fitness number. So much better than guessing off my watch.

As someone just getting started, I was nervous, but the team made it comfortable and never made me feel behind. My baseline numbers gave every workout and meal a purpose. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to stop guessing.

Got Questions

Common Questions

You'll arrive, check in, and move through your selected tests in a single visit. For a VO₂ Max or VO₂ Submax test, you'll wear a fitted mask and exercise while we analyze your breathing. For RMR, you'll rest quietly while we measure your resting metabolism. Each test takes about 15 minutes to administer. At the end of your appointment, a staff member walks you through your results and explains what each number means for your health and goals.
Each test takes about 15 minutes to administer. A VO₂ Max appointment runs about 45 minutes and an RMR appointment about 30 minutes, allowing time for check-in and your results review. Do both in the same visit and you'll be finished in about an hour or less.
For a VO₂ Max, VO₂ Submax, or RMR test, hold off on food for at least 5 hours beforehand (water is fine), and skip caffeine and significant physical activity, since these tests measure your body at a baseline state. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in for the VO₂ test. You'll receive a detailed preparation guide by email after booking.
Both measure your cardiorespiratory fitness by analyzing your breathing while you exercise. A VO₂ Max test builds up to your true maximal effort for the most precise ceiling on your aerobic capacity. A VO₂ Submax test estimates that same number from how your body responds at lower, more comfortable effort, so you never have to push to exhaustion. Submax is a good fit if you are newer to training, prefer an easier session, or want a gentler option.
You wear a fitted mask and perform a progressively harder protocol on a stationary bike or treadmill. The mask captures the oxygen you inhale and the carbon dioxide you exhale at each intensity level. A VO₂ Max test ends when you reach your maximum aerobic effort, while a VO₂ Submax test stops earlier and estimates your number from lower, more comfortable intensities. Unlike wearable estimates, this is a direct measurement, the same protocol used by elite sports teams and clinical research.
Your results load into the DexaFit ai app immediately after testing. A staff member reviews them with you in person before you leave, walking through what each metric means and how you compare to age- and sex-matched norms. Your data stays in the app for future reference and is available to share with your doctor, trainer, or dietitian.
Most people retest every 3 to 6 months when actively working toward a goal, such as improved fitness, weight change, or performance, and annually for a general health baseline. Retesting is where DexaFit delivers its greatest value: seeing exactly how your cardiorespiratory fitness and resting metabolism have changed in response to your efforts.
